A Ray of Hope in the Darkness
You are the light of the world. Let your light shine before others.
In the midst of the decadent debauchery of the Sioux Falls Pride Festival, a ray of hope shone in the darkness. At the entrance to the fetish fair, two ambassadors of Christ’s Kingdom stood in the hot afternoon sun, sharing the gospel with anyone who would listen.
They also circulated around the festival and spoke with the apostate “church” leaders who had booths there. Needless to say, the wolves in sheep’s clothing weren’t very happy to see them. The satanists were friendlier and more open to an honest discussion about their pagan inclinations than the church leaders who were there cosplaying as Christians.
It was inspiring to see Nick and Don, the placard-wielding evangelists, making hay in some of the most evangelically barren land in Sioux Falls. Although some people were rude, the majority listened attentively. Some even thanked them for graciously sharing their message, even though the listeners strongly disagreed with their worldview.
Nick and Don are abortion abolitionists. Abortion abolitionists oppose laws that fall short of the complete abolition and prohibition of abortion. It was interesting to see the juxtaposition of these two courageous abolitionists next to the Justice Empowerment Network (JEN), who advocates for unrestricted access to abortion.
JEN’s leaders gave a speech from the mainstage explaining how women in South Dakota could circumvent the current trigger law to procure abortion pills by mail or receive financial assistance and logistical support to procure an abortion at an out-of-state facility. If that shocks you, then stay tuned. I will detail the state of abortion in South Dakota in a series of articles in the near future.
